Traffic Incident Management

Traffic Incident Management (TIM, formerly SWIFT) is defined as the coordinated, preplanned procedures utilized by agencies charged with responding to traffic incidents to rapidly and efficiently detect, respond to, and clear incidents and restore traffic capacity as safely and quickly as possible. Well-deployed TIM programs are able to reduce the duration and impact of incidents and improve the safety of motorists, crash victims, and incident responders.
